2017 VALDEZ ICE CLIMBING FESTIVAL
The 2017 edition of the Valdez Ice Climbing Festival has been cancelled.
The following events are still taking place
Friday night Mountainfilm & Silent Auction, Civic Center, doors open at 6, films at 7:30. $10
Saturday night Black Diamond Gear Demo at Prospector Outfitters, 7 - 9 p.m. Free. Followed by live music at 9:30 with Unfaithful Lovers at the Fat Mermaid. $10
Sunday night - Chad Jukes slide show @ The Fat Mermaid, 8 p.m. Free.

Welcome reception & Mountainfilm, Valdez Civic Center, on the hill overlooking the harbor at 110 Clifton Court. Non-climbers rate: $10 at the door. Festival registration, single night film ticket sales, and beer garden opens at 6 p.m.; Films start at 7:30 p.m.

FREE Camping is available in Old Town at 75 Copper Ave. approximately 10 miles west of Keystone Canyon. Turn left on the first street after the Valdez Glacier Stream Bridge. Go 1/10th mile; camping is on property at first house on the left. This is the location of Sunday's night's bonfire feast so you'll be steps from the party.
General Admission Tickets. Your ice fest registration includes daily open climbing from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Also includes entry to all evening social events: Mountainfilm, Silent Auction followed by Dance Party with The Unfaithful Lovers, the Sunday Bonfire Feast plus beer all weekend provided by Broken Tooth Brewing.

One final clinic we almost have sewn up will be a Photography Workshop with noted noted adventure photographers Ace Kvale and The CAMP Light and Fast Alpinism Clinic is all-inclusive meaning a full-access festival pass is included. All other clinics may be purchased a la carte.

New this year, Ice Fest Passholders will be issued free gear demo cards that can be used to checkout the latest gear from CAMP-USA, Black Diamond, Petzl and others we hope to announce soon. Ice Fest participants should still plan to bring their own gear (Boots, Crampons, Helmet and Harness) but now you'll have a chance to try the latest in ice climbing gear technology too - included as part of festival registration.

Alaska Mountaineering & Hiking rental gear
Alaska Mountaineering and Hiking is offering a weekend package rental deal. If you already have your own helmet, you can rent gear at a reduced rate. You can call and reserve gear to pick it up on Thursday 2/16 and return it by Tuesday 2/21. This is an amazing deal offered exclusively to participants! Act fast, last year AMH ran out of gear quickly!
