VAA is proud to be celebrating its 5th year of service to the Valdez community. It was founded as an independent 501c3 in 2019 and has since weathered (literally) massive snows, rains, and winds, COVID, and the loss of many treasured citizens. We are taking this opportunity to refresh, re-evaluate, and re-commit. As part of the re-evaluation, we have decided we can no longer continue as the host of the Valdez Ice Climbing Festival. VAA cannot give this event the full attention it deserves. In the lower 48 such events have an entire organization devoted only to them all year round, and this event deserves no less. Two of our valued board members, Kory Maillet and Jim Pomplun have left VAA to take the lead on that endeavor.
