WORTHINGTON GLACIER STATE RECREATION SITE

Mile post 29, Richardson Hwy

$5 day use/parking fee.

An easy turn off the Richardson Highway at mile post 29 provides excellent views of the Worthington Glacier, which melts and flows into Ptarmigan Creek and then into the Tsaina River.

The recreation site provides hiking trails, berry picking, and picnic facilities, including a covered pavilion. Come see a model of the glacier from decades ago to understand its rapid retreat.

Lookout Trail is a 0.3 mile loop paved wheelchair-accessible trail from the parking lot to a viewing platform and down to the glacier water, with interpretive panels and benches along the way. This site is open for the summer months.

Visitor Center and gift shop is open when volunteers are available. Vault toilets open seasonally.
Your $5 parking fee helps us keep this beautiful site open! We receive no funding or maintenance assistance from the State of Alaska!

NOTE: Worthington Glacier Ridge Trail and Worthington Loop Trail are social trails (not officially permitted nor maintained) that have been closed by the state due to very hazardous conditions including rock slides.
